Eclipse Digital Solutions Ltd designed, installed and commissioned a new multi-site video management system (VMS) for Ports of Jersey.
The project incorporated all cameras from two main sites – Jersey Airport and the Port of St Helier – as well as outlying estates.
Around 160 cameras were migrated from the client’s legacy video management system with Eclipse engineers maintaining the existing VMS while the new rollout took place.
The new VMS rollout was incorporated into the client’s existing domain infrastructures to provide seamless access to the VMS through stakeholders IT issued devices.
Integration into the client’s domain leveraged existing IT assets such as DHCP, DNS and failover clusters to incorporate the systems within the IT department’s existing infrastructure and management systems, allowing the client to monitor performance and uptime, as with any other IT asset, to ensure this mission critical system is always running at peak performance.
Centralised administration of all client stations and cameras was merged into a single front end, utilising integrations from third party vendors to streamline the deployment, administration and management of edge devices such as cameras.
Due to a vast array of users, Eclipse tailored roles and permissions to suit each department’s needs and integrated the VMS with Active Directory to allow new users or users moving departments to inherit the permissions based on their roles within the organisation.
We continue to work in close collaboration with Ports of Jersey to maintain the system, patching regularly in line with corporate policies to ensure systems are kept up to date and, most importantly, compliant.
